NEWS SITES
Planet Quake
A good Quake and 3D first-person shooter news site... if
you have a T1 or a heck of a lot of patience - all the
pretty graphics take too long to load in my book.
3 Fingers' &
Heron's Hot Rod Shop
My friend 3 Fingers's web site. His Quake guides are the
definative FAQs on Quake and Quake2 (except for my FAQ of
course). Either he taught me everything I know or I
taught him everything he knows... can't remember. Too
much tecquilla...

While I don't recommend over-clocking your CPU unless
you're prepared for possible headaches and
incompatibility problems, for those of you who want to
squeeze two pounds of doggy doo-doo into a one pound bag,
this is the page to learn more about it.
Crime's How to
Get Good Pings
Very informative site that walks you through optimizing
your Dial-Up Networking, and modem settings for ideal
QuakeWorld and Quake 2 performance. I was amazed at the
improvement in my netgames after following Crime's
instructions. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

QuakeDelphi Intellimouse Wheel
Driver
From the boys at QuakeDelphi, it adds Microsoft Intellimouse
Wheel support to QuakeWorld.
Three Fingers' Modified Missile
Model for GLQuake
I highly recommend you install this if you have a 4mb
Voodoo 3D card. They're modified Quake models for
missiles and grenades that don't have smoke or flame
trails behind them. You just will not believe how much
smoother your net games will run with these installed!
Laggy rocket battles are a thing of the past! For serious
deathmatch players, they're a must.
Q2 Mods:
Action Quake
You might never play regular Quake2 again after playing
this mod. All new maps, models, skins, sounds and
weapons. Turns Q2 into an urban commando game with
realistic weapons. Awesome gameplay.
3 Team CTF
Very cool variation on standard CTF.
Head Hunters
Outstandingly sick deathmatch and team play mod. Steal
the other players' worm-ridden heads from their corpses
and bring them to the temple to score points. There's
nothing funnier than watching everybody scramble for
heads during a fire-fight!
Digital Paintball2
Ever go out into the woods and play Paintball
Capture-the-Flag with some of America's frustrated
survivalists in camouflage? Wanna recapture that fun
without the mosquitoes and the painful welts left by
half-frozen paintballs in winter? Try this mod out. If
the blood and gore of regular Quake2 turns you off, you
might like this. No gibs.
Lithium
Deathmatch
The best deathmatch mod for Quake2, in my humble opinion.
Vanilla CTF
My all-time favorite version of CTF. This mod originally
came out before Quake2 CTF was released. If you like
Lithium and you like CTF then you'll love Vanilla.
Vanilla uses the same off-hand laser grapple that Lithium
uses. Vanilla is also a server-side mod so you don't need
to download anything on the client side. There's not too
many Vanilla CTF servers around, unfortunately. Be cool
and start your own and drop me an e-mail with the IP
address. Here's a list of the only Vanilla servers I'm
aware of. If you know of any other, PLEASE let me know:
Fwip Q2 (209.144.112.60:27910) & Clan DPS
(12.2.177.101:27910)
Choas Deathmatch
From the sickos who brought you PainKeep for Quake1,
comes Chaos for Quake2. More bizarre weapons, maps and
gibbing fun for everyone.
Kunani Capture!
CTF
Cool CTF mod that's a cross between Jailbreak, Rocket
Arena and regular CTF. If you get fragged, you go to
jail. However, unlike in Jailbreak, you don't sit around
bored for a long time waiting to be sprung. You can
either be released when a team mate captures the enemy
flag, or you can earn your freedom by going 1 on 1 in a
small arena against an enemy player also waiting in jail.
The victor goes free while the loser goes back to jail.
Also adds some new features such as area specific damage
(ala Sin) and a new weapon: the energy cannon. It also
comes with some great new maps.
Weapons Factory
CTF Mod
If you like Team Fortress, you'll love this! It's a CTF
variation for Quake 2 that, like TF, has multiple player
classes with different weapons and capabilities. My
favorite is the Arsonist.
Jailbreak Mod
Cool twist on Capture-the-Flag. Instead of a flag, you
have to free your team mates from jail. Very cool.
VWep (Visual Weapons)
A VERY cool mod that now (as of release 3.15) has
support built into Quake 2 (you still need to download
the client files). It allows you to see what weapon a
player is carrying (as opposed to the generic shotgun
model for all weapons in original Quake2). The weapon
models are fully animated (the chaingun barrels spin,
etc). It looks SOOOOOO realistic. In order for the mod to
work, you must be playing on a VWep server (there's
hundreds of them already, and most new server mods like
LM CTF have built-in support for VWep). It's amazing how
this mod can change the nature of the game.
Loki's Minions CTF v3.0
Incredible Capture-the-Flag mod that improves on Q2 CTF.
Provides a long-awaited feature: an off-hand grapple
(finally!). This means you can use the grapple without
changing weapons! It includes ten new awesome maps, new
sounds (including audible team messages!), new skins and
VWep support. It's a hefty download at 18 Mb, but it's
well worth it. Good news for those of you who think the
BFG unbalances gameplay - LMCTF maps don't have any
BFG's.
Mad Dog's
Configs Page
Mad Dog has built quite a reputation with the 3Dfx
Voodoo2 News Group gurus as being the man in the know
when it comes to even the most
complicated aliases and .cfg files.

how to use them. Also a library of popular keyboard

Great article written by Death2Uall that explains the best tweaks for Q3 on

card!
