RECOMMENDED INTERNET PROVIDERS

These are Internet Service Providers (ISPs) that have particularly good bandwidth and low backbone latency that I and other online gamers have recommended for good Internet gameplay in the geographic areas listed below.

Please keep in mind that many of these ISPs are national and service may vary from city to city.

  • Your Net Connection - Chicago, IL, USA. Recommended by grpdagod@ync.net
  • Planet Systems Network - All over USA. Be sure to tell them that teknik referred you! 
  • Netcom - Cincinnati, OH, USA. Recommended by hawkeye9@ix.netcom.com. " I get 150-175 pings, without tweaking my connection."
  • MindSpring - Atlanta, GA, USA (Has coverage all over USA as well). Recommended by m.a.stevens@mindspring.com
  • Navpoint - Philadelphia, PA, USA. "A REAL good ISP for people living in the Philadelphia area. It's only 2 hops from the backbone, great support, and they always stay on top of their systems with the latest/greatest drivers, software, AND hardware.   • NetWizards - Sacramento, CA, USA. "They allow for multilink connections which are the bomb. ISDN speeds without the setup and hourly charges." Recommended by flashbak@mindspring.com
  • FUSE- Cincinnati, OH, USA. "Great dial up Internet Access for analog and ISDN w/ 2 email accounts and free web hosting. They are now rolling out ADSL to a large % of the city. They also have their own game servers." Recommended by binnsgc@fuse.net
  • One Pine - New York City, NY, USA. "For those who happen to live in New York (either Manhattan, Queens or Brooklyn) it's hard to find a better ISP for their analog modems... Pings below 200 for a vast number of servers throughout." Recommended by tpoppins@juno.com
  • Optimum Online - Long Island, NY, USA. Cable modem service. Recommended by ksiuda@optonline.net
  • Webzone - Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK, USA. "They run 2 Q2 & an HL server, support v.34, K56flex, x2, v.90, bonded analog, ISDN, T1s and more... Plus they use Lucent Portmaster 3 dialups which support STAC, and give me an incredible 99-135 ping on their Q2 servers, and sub 200 almost anywhere in the US." Recommended by ericp@webzone.net

  • BarrysWorld - United Kingdom (Not really an ISP - no email, etc, but provides FREE access with 2 hops to several game servers)
